The sealing of ship hatch covers is a core link to ensure the safety of cargo transportation, avoid maritime risks, and reduce the operating costs of ships. Facing the harsh working conditions of salt spray corrosion, extreme temperature changes, alternating wind and wave loads, and hull deformation in complex global navigation areas, as well as the increasingly strict safety and compliance requirements in the international maritime field, the reliability and adaptability of ship hatch cover sealing products have become the core focus of shipowners and ship management companies.

Recently, SUNPASS SEALING TECHNOLOGY (ZHEJIANG) CO.,LTD officially launched its upgraded marine-specific TANK LID PACKING series, bringing a highly reliable hatch cover sealing solution suitable for all types of ships and navigation areas around the world with 45 years of technical accumulation in industrial sealing.

As one of the earliest professional manufacturers entering the sealing field in China, SUNPASS's predecessor was founded in 1979. As early as the 1990s, it has deeply served the shipping industry, and is one of the first enterprises in China to complete the systematic R&D and mass production of marine TANK LID PACKING. After two generations of technical deepening, the company has built a 12,000 square meters modern professional production workshop, with more than 20 automated production lines including TANK LID PACKING braiding, graphite products, PTFE products, rubber composite products, etc. It has realized the full-process independent and controllable production of marine-specific TANK LID PACKING, from independent R&D and production of core yarns, optimization of braiding process to finished product performance testing. In 2014, the company fully introduced advanced German production equipment and manufacturing technology, became a member of the International Tank Container Organization (ITCO), and provides OEM/ODM customized services for many top marine supporting brands and sealing enterprises around the world. Its product technology and quality control capabilities have been widely recognized by the international shipping market.

The marine-specific TANK LID PACKING released this time is an iterative product developed by SUNPASS for the full-scenario pain points of ocean-going shipping. It is deeply suitable for the hatch cover sealing needs of all types of ships, including bulk carriers, container ships, liquid cargo ships, LPG carriers, and offshore engineering vessels, and has completed a number of technical upgrades directly targeting the core pain points of the industry.

In response to the long-term anti-corrosion requirements in the marine environment, this series of products has built a dual-core yarn system: the high-purity PTFE yarn series is available in two specifications of oiled and non-oiled, with extremely strong salt spray resistance, seawater resistance and grease resistance, and the applicable pH value range covers 2-12, which can perfectly cope with the extreme corrosion conditions of long-term seawater spray and erosion of various chemical bulk cargoes during ocean navigation; the expanded graphite yarn series adopts a double reinforcement process of glass fiber and Inconel 600 wire, which has excellent deformation resistance and high temperature resistance, and can be simultaneously adapted to the supporting sealing needs of ship engine rooms and high-temperature cabins, realizing the adaptation of sealing schemes for multiple scenarios on a single ship.

In response to the extreme temperature change conditions of global cross-navigation areas, the product achieves full temperature range coverage: the standard product has an applicable temperature range from -60°C to 260°C, which can seamlessly cover the full scene requirements from the high temperature and high humidity navigation areas at the equator to the low temperature routes in the frigid zone; the special cryogenic model can withstand the extreme low temperature of -250°C, specially built for LPG carriers and low-temperature special ships, completely solving the problems of sealing cold flow and leakage failure under ultra-low temperature conditions. At the same time, the product optimizes the braiding structure and elastomer formula, greatly improves the compression resilience, effectively solves the industry stubborn problems such as permanent compression set and sealing failure of traditional TANK LID PACKING under long-term ship turbulence, repeated opening and closing of hatch covers, and hull navigation deformation, significantly extends the ship maintenance cycle, reduces the downtime for maintenance, and greatly reduces the life cycle operating cost of shipowners.

In terms of quality control and maritime compliance, SUNPASS has established a full-process closed-loop quality control system, with a four-level inspection system including full inspection of incoming raw materials, IPQC tour inspection in the production process, batch-by-batch inspection of finished products, and final inspection by special quality officers. The company is equipped with 6 senior sealing technical experts with more than 20 years of industry experience, and 8 full-time quality inspectors with more than 5 years of industry experience. Up to now, it has 11 independent patents, 21 products have passed the authoritative SGS testing. The full series of marine-specific TANK LID PACKING has passed the TUV/SGS ISO9001 quality management system certification, and can provide a complete set of compliance documents such as MSDS material safety data sheet and maritime transportation safety certification, which meet the relevant specification requirements of major classification societies and the International Maritime Organization around the world, and provide comprehensive compliance support for the global navigation of ships.

With excellent product strength and global service system, SUNPASS marine sealing series products have been sold to more than 100 countries and regions around the world, covering core shipping hubs in Europe, America, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. In 2024, the company's total output value reached USD 30 million, of which 75% of the performance came from overseas exports. The company has built a global sales and service network and sufficient spot inventory, which can achieve a stable delivery capacity of 8 full containers per month, respond to the technical consultation and emergency spare parts needs of global shipowners and ship management companies within 24 hours. It can not only provide spot supply of standardized marine TANK LID PACKING, but also provide one-to-one customized sealing solutions according to the ship hatch cover model and navigation conditions, providing a full-cycle one-stop service for global port calls and voyage maintenance of ships.

SUNPASS has always adhered to the core brand value of "Safe | Convenient | Trusty", and takes "Your Mission, Our Engineering" as the brand promise. In the future, the company will continue to deeply engage in the R&D and product innovation of sealing technology in the shipping field, keep up with the industry development trend of green shipping and intelligent ships, continuously iterate and upgrade marine TANK LID PACKING and other core products' performance and adaptability, help the global shipping industry achieve safe, efficient and low-cost operation, and strive to become the preferred engineering partner in the global ship and tank container sealing sector.
